EL PASO, Texas -- The University of Memphis (7-13, 0-0) softball team opens up Conference USA play with a three-game series at UTEP (7-8, 0-0) on Saturday and Sunday.
The two teams play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. (MT)/2 p.m. (CT) at Helen of Troy Field. The Tigers and Miners close the series on Sunday with a 10 a.m. (MT)/11 a.m. (CT) match-up.

Ijiah Hargrove leads the Tigers with a .385 batting average.
Morgan Mosby leads the team with eight RBI, seven runs scored and two home runs. She is hitting .333 on the season.
Memphis raised its batting average 13 points in the last seven games from .193 to .206.
The Tigers have struggled with the bases loaded, hitting just 2-for-14 (.143). Opponents on the other hand are 9-for-28 (.321) with the bases loaded.

Memphis Sweeps Series with 7-2 Victory over UTEP
The University of Memphis softball team won its seventh-straight game and swept a three-game series against UTEP with a 7-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Tiger Softball Complex.
Morgan Mosby went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. She hit a three-run homer as Memphis jumped to a 5-0 lead in the top 2nd.
The victory is the third for Memphis all-time against a ranked opponent and first since upsetting No. 16 Stanford on the road on February 25, 2011.
The win is the first for Memphis against Hawaii and second for head coach Natalie Poole.
Hawaii was shutout for the first time since April 21, 2012, against Nevada.
The five runs are the second most runs Memphis has scored against a ranked opponent. The most was seven runs in eight innings against No. 22 Ohio State on February 11, 2011.
Last Week
Memphis went 2-4 in Hawaii and 2-3 in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Tigers defeated Campbell 6-4 and No. 20/22 Hawaii, 5-0
The U of M played three of the six games against Hawaii.

Memphis had three players named to the Bank of Hawaii Invitational All-Tournament Team.
The Tigers have won the last six games and nine of the last 10 contests.
Memphis is 5-4 all-time in El Paso and has won thee last four games.

In El Paso, the overall score is a little closer with Memphis holding a 71-61 advantage.

Junior Colleen Hohman is also 3-3 with a 3.83 ERA.. She has pitched 38.1 innings and has 34 strikeouts with 23 walks.
Opponents are hitting .314 off of the Miners' pitching staff. The team averages 0.65 walks and 0.67 strikeouts per inning. UTEP pitching averages 1.9 walks/hits per inning.
As a team, UTEP is hitting .274 with nine home runs and 67 runs scored.
