The University of Memphis softball team hosts a Wednesday doubleheader with Lipscomb beginning at 5 p.m. at Greenbrook Park in Southaven, Miss.

The Lady Tigers enter the week at 14-7 and were off for a week after going 4-1 at the University of San Diego Tournament in San Diego, Calif. The Lady Bisons of Lipscomb have a 9-11 record. Last season, Memphis swept a doubleheader at Lipscomb.

Memphis will use the midweek match-up to prepare for conference play. The Lady Tigers begin its league schedule at UTEP in a three-game series on March 24 and 25.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:
• Memphis has won nine of its last 11 games and enters the week with a three-game winning streak.
Jenna Kubesch enters the week with an 18-inning scoreless streak. The senior has not allowed an earned run in 28 straight innings and is coming off back-to-back shutouts against Loyola Marymount and UC Riverside.
• Kubesch is the first Memphis player to earn C-USA Player of the Week honors. The Weimar, Texas native was named the pitcher of the week on March 5 after going 4-0 without allowing an earned run. Kubesch is the only Lady Tiger to earn POW honors in the program's history and has earned the recognition twice.
Lindsay Kelso enters the week with a nine-game hitting streak. The streak ties the school record. Kelso leads the team with a .327 average and with 13 runs.
• Senior third baseman Bridgette McNulty leads the conference in walks with 20 in 21 games. She walked 24 times in 2006.
• Senior Kara Ross leads the team in RBI with 15. The first baseman is hitting .304 on the season.
• Four Lady Tigers have four multi-hit games; Lindsey Pridgen, Kara Ross, Leandra Hines and Leila Dolfo.
• Two Memphis players lead the team with four multi-RBI games; Kara Ross and Lindsay Kelso.

THIS WEEK: The Lady Tigers fly to El Paso, Texas to open their Conference USA schedule against the Miners of UTEP. Memphis will play a three-game series with UTEP beginning on Saturday, March 17 at Helen of Troy Field. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. (MST) and close the series with a game on Sunday at 1 p.m.

LAST WEEK: Memphis is coming off a bye week after going 4-1 at the University of San Diego Tournament in San Diego, Calif. In the tournament, the Lady Tigers beat San Diego twice and also earned victories against Loyola Marymount and UC Riverside. The only Memphis loss came to Cal State Northridge. In the tournament, senior pitcher Jenna Kubesch pitched back-to-back shutouts against Loyola Marymount and UC Riverside. She was named the C-USA Pitcher of the Week after going 4-0 without allowing an earned run in the week. Memphis also swept a doubleheader with Belmont in the week.

NEXT WEEK: Memphis will open its Conference USA home schedule against Houston on March 24 and 25. The three-game series is tentatively scheduled to be played in the Lady Tigers' new softball stadium on the Park Avenue Campus.
