MEMPHIS - The University of Memphis softball team hosts a three-game conference series with UAB on Saturday and Sunday at the Tigers Softball Complex.

Originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday, the doubleheader has been pushed up to an 11 a.m. start due to the threat of inclement weather. Memphis (14-17, 3-3 C-USA) and UAB (15-7, 5-1 C-USA) will close the series with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday. Following Sunday's game, Pouncer's Pals, the official University of Memphis Athletics Kid's Club, will host an Egg Hunt for children in attendance with Pouncer and the Memphis softball team.

Pinch Hit Fifth-Inning Homer Spoils Memphis Upset Attempt
A two-hit inning was all UAB needed to end the University of Memphis' season as the Tigers fell 2-0 in the opening day of the Conference USA Championship on Thursday night.


Admission is free to all home games.

  • Memphis enters the series with UAB on a three-game winning streak and are 14-17 overall and 3-3 in conference play. 
  • Jordan Richwood ranks 12th in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings with 9.8. 
  • Lelani Bernardino ranks 105th in the country in hit by pitch per game (0.2) and 146th in walks per game (0.57).

  • The Bears scored 12 runs, including seven unearned, in the final two innings of the game. 
  • Morgan Mosby tied a career high with three RBI in game one. 
  • The Tigers lost all three-games in their conference home opener to No. 20 Tulsa. 
  • Memphis and Tulsa went seven scoreless innings in game one, before Tulsa scored the game's first run in the eighth inning. The Golden Hurricane scored four runs in the inning and won 4-2, despite the Tigers scoring two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Midweek

  • Memphis defeated Samford 3-1 on Tuesday at the Tigers Softball Complex. 
  • The Tigers swept Alcorn State in a doubleheader on Wednesday, earning a 3-2 comeback victory in game one and winning 8-1 in game two.

Up Next
