STORRS, Conn. - The University of Memphis makes its first trip to Connecticut for a three-game American Athletic Conference series at UConn on Saturday and Sunday.

The threat of potential inclement weather has moved up the series' opening doubleheader on Saturday an hour to a 10 a.m. CT/11 a.m. ET start. The two teams close the series with a single game on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT/11 a.m. ET.

The games mark the home opener for the Huskies who are 5-20 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Memphis enters the weekend with a 13-18 overall mark and is 0-3 in league play after being swept in the conference opener at UCF last week. Two of the three games were 1-0 victories for the Knights.

The Tigers have dropped a season-high six-straight games with three of the losses decided by a run. The average RPI of opponents during the stretch is 49. In all, the U of M has had 11 games decided by a run and are 3-8 in those contests. The eight one-run losses have resulted in 44 percent of the team's overall defeats.

UConn has already had two of its games this week canceled or postponed due to weather. The Huskies were swept in their conference opener at USF last week. Connecticut has lost nine-straight heading into the weekend and 11 of its last 12 games.

The Huskies rank last in the conference in batting (.225 average), scoring (2.68 runs per game) and ERA (5.32). The team has been outscored 137-67 in its 25 games and opponents are hitting .316. Additionally, the team has given up 26 stolen bases with six runners caught stealing (81 percent) while swiping nine of 14 attempts (64 percent).

Sophomore second baseman Valerie Sadowl leads UConn offensively with a .344 average. She has eight RBI, two home runs and six runs scored. Senior first baseman Audrey Grinnell is the team's RBI leader with 15 and is hitting .242 with a team best four home runs.

In the circle, junior Lauren Duggan (4.06 ERA) has seen the majority of the innings pitched and is 4-10 in 12 starts. Duggan averages 2.94 strikeouts per seven innings and 4.87 runs per game. Freshman Kayla Doty (1-4, 7.33 ERA) is second on the team with 43 innings pitched and seven starts.

Memphis enters the weekend hitting .242 and is averaging 3.78 runs per seven innings. Freshman outfielder Lindsay Crowdus leads the team with a .389 average, 18 runs scored and a school record six triples. Freshman shortstop Brittany Vaughn leads the team in RBI with 20 and on base percentage with a .462 average.

In the circle, Memphis sports a team ERA of 2.95 and has given up 3.92 runs per seven innings. Senior Ellen Roberts leads the team with a 7-10 record in 17 starts and has a 2.59 ERA with 84 strikeouts. Freshman Christian Novak is 5-6 on the year with a 2.96 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 68.2 innings.
