MEMPHIS - The University of Memphis softball team hosts a three-game series with UCF on Saturday and Sunday at the Tigers Softball Complex. The two teams play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. and close with a noon game on Sunday.

Memphis (18-27, 6-9 C-USA) enters the series having won four of its last five games and swept Southern Miss on the road last week. UCF (22-21, 4-11 C-USA) has won its last four games and swept a home three-game series with UTEP last week after starting 1-11 in conference play.

Roberts Throws Two-Hit Shutout in 3-0 Victory over UCF
Ellen Roberts pitched a two-hit shutout and Ijiah Hargrove drove in a pair of runs as the University of Memphis softball team earned a 3-0 victory in the final game of a three-game series at UCF on Sunday afternoon.


The Knights hold the all-time series advantage by a game with an 11-10 record against Memphis. However, the Tigers are 7-2 against UCF in Memphis and swept the series in 2011 and 2007. In 2011, the U of M pitching staff allowed just one run in the three games and won by a combined score of 15-1.

In nine games in Memphis against UCF, the Tigers have a 0.75 ERA and a .283 batting average.

Last year, UCF won the series in Orlando, Fla., winning two of the three games. The Knights battled back for a 8-7 win in game one and a 7-4 win in game two before falling to Memphis 3-0 in the final game.

Memphis senior outfielder Lelani Bernardino leads the team with a .388 on-base percentage and has a seven-game hitting streak entering the series. She also boasts a team-season high 10-game streak of reaching base. Bernardino is hitting .264 and leads the team with 19 runs, 11 stolen bases and 12 hit by pitch. She also has 10 RBI, 17 walks and 12 hit by pitch.

Senior infielder Morgan Mosby leads the team with a .307 batting average and a .407 slugging percentage. She has driven in a team-best 17 RBI with 15 runs scored.

The Tigers are hitting .229 as a team and average 3.22 runs per game. In the circle, Memphis has a 3.55 ERA and averages 6.90 strikeouts and 3.40 walks per game.

Junior RHP Ellen Roberts (9-18) leads the team with a 3.22 ERA and has struck out 147 in 172.0 innings pitched with 65 walks. Sophomore Jordan Richwood (8-8) has struck out 129 batters in 99.2 innings and has a 3.79 ERA.

Freshman outfielder Jasmine Acevedo leads UCF with a .346 batting average, while sophomore third baseman Farrah Sullivan and freshman first baseman Kalyn Cenal lead the team with 19 RBI. The Knights are hitting .223 and average 3.14 runs per game.

In the circle, reigning C-USA Pitcher of the Week Mackenzie Audas (11-13) leads the team with 178 strikeouts in 161 innings of work. The sophomore has a 2.78 ERA with a .216 opponent batting average. Freshman Shelby Turnier (10-7) has pitched in 104.1 innings with 75 strikeouts and a 2.48 ERA.
