MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis softball team travels to Greenville, N.C. this weekend for a three-game series against East Carolina (18-25, 8-7 C-USA) in the Tigers' final road trip in Conference USA action. The teams will begin play Saturday at 1 p.m. ET with a doubleheader before wrapping up the series Sunday with a 12 p.m. contest.

Seniors Go Out in Style with 5-3 Win against ECU on Senior Day
On senior day, the Memphis seniors went out with a bang in their final home contest of their careers, helping the Tigers defeat East Carolina 5-3 on Sunday afternoon.

Memphis (21-29, 8-10 C-USA) went 1-1 in midweek games this week as the Tigers fell 1-0 to Central Arkansas in 10 innings on Tuesday before defeating Mississippi Valley State 2-1 in 10 innings on Wednesday. Against MVSU, sophomore RHP Jordan Richwood struck out 15 batters, which tied for third in school history for strikeouts in a game. At the plate, Lelani Bernardino extended her hitting streak to 12 games by going to 3-for-4, and driving in the go-ahead run with a triple to right center in the 10th inning.

Senior infielder Morgan Mosby leads Memphis this season with a .308 batting average and a .403 slugging percentage. The Hernando, Miss. native has also put together a team-best 49 hits and 20 RBI in 50 games this season.

Junior RHP Ellen Roberts (12-19) leads the Tigers with a 2.86 ERA in the circle with 20 complete games and 162 strikeouts in 198.0 innings pitched. Richwood (8-9) ranks 20th in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (9.0) with 150 strikeouts in 113.0 innings pitched.

East Carolina comes into the weekend having won four of its last five games. The Pirates picked up a win over No. 20 Tulsa before sweeping Marshall the following week. In their midweek game this week, the Pirates fell 8-0 to No. 25 North Carolina.

ECU has three players hitting over .300 at the plate with junior infielder Kristi Oshiro leading the team with a .361 batting average, 44 hits, 37 runs, 11 doubles and five triples in 43 games this season. Junior infielders Jordan Lewis and Alex Fieldhouse pace the Pirates with seven home runs apiece this season. Lewis is hitting .351 and has a team-high 12 stolen bases while Fieldhouse is batting .333 with a team-best 39 RBI and 11 doubles.

In the circle, sophomore RHP Sarah Christian has thrown 155.0 innings this season for the Pirates. She leads the team with a 3.16 ERA and a 13-12 record. Christian has allowed 184 hits and 70 earned runs while striking out 94 batters.

The Tigers will travel to Martin, Tenn., next Wednesday to face UT Martin in a single game beginning at 4 p.m. CT. Memphis will wrap up C-USA play next weekend when it hosts Houston, Apr. 27-28, at the Tigers Softball Complex.
