MEMPHIS, Tenn. –

The University of Memphis softball team closes out its non-conference schedule against Murray State, Wednesday. The game will is slated to begin at 4 p.m. at the Tigers Softball Complex and admission is free for all Memphis softball home games.

Memphis is 4-0 all-time in the matchup against Murray State. The two teams last played in a doubleheader on May 1, 2013. The Tigers won both games, 5-4, over the Racers with the second game going into eight innings.

The Tigers are 37-14 all-time against opponents from the Ohio Valley Conference and 5-1 this season. Memphis has wins over Southeast Missouri (2x), Morehead State, and Austin Peay (2x). The lone setback came against UT Martin on Apr. 9.

Murray State (27-21) will carry a 7-8 road record into Memphis on Wednesday as they have won their last three games. The Racers are 14-8 in the OVC this season.

Junior Mo Ramsey leads the team with a .337 batting average (55-for-163). Ramsey’s 55 hits lead the team, as she also adds 13 RBI and 11 stolen bases for the Racers. Sophomore Shelby Miller has a .318 batting average (47-for-148) and leads the team in doubles (10), RBI (26), and total bases (67). Junior Alexa Becker adds a team-high eight home runs for Murray State.

Freshman Mason Robinson is 10-8 in the circle with a 2.69 ERA for the Racers. Robinson has seen 28 appearances this season with 87 strikeouts in 127.1 innings pitched. Cheyanna Gaskey is 11-11 with a 3.41 ERA. Gaskey has also seen 28 appearances in the circle to go along with team-high 113 strikeouts in 135.1 innings pitched.

Memphis (22-29) is coming off a rough road trip to Tampa, Fla. as the Tigers were swept in a three-game conference series by South Florida. Memphis carries a 13-6 home record into their final non-conference game. The Tigers are 18-16 against non-conference opponents this season.

Sophomore Georganna Goodwin has produced a .391 batting average (9-for-23) over the last 10 games for the Tigers. Goodwin added two home runs, 10 RBI, and 17 total bases during that stretch. Kelly Braman has also come through for Memphis over the last 10 games. The senior had a .360 batting average (9-for-25) with two home runs, six RBI, and 16 total bases.

Freshman Lindsay Crowdus leads the team with a .348 batting average (54-for-155). Crowdus also leads the team in triples (7) and total bases (73). The seven triples from Crowdus rank tied for first in the country. Freshman Brittany Vaughn continues to lead the team with 33 RBI and 11 doubles. Vaughn is batting .299 (41-for-137). Over the weekend, senior Kelly Braman connected on her team-high fifth home run of the season.

Senior pitcher Ellen Roberts is 11-17 this season with a 2.68 ERA for the Tigers. Roberts has 36 appearances with 138 strikeouts in 180.1 innings pitched. The senior also adds 17 complete games and a team-high three saves on the season.

Following Wednesday’s midweek game, the Tigers finish up the regular season at home with a three-game conference series against Louisville this weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
