MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis softball team closes out their regular season slate Wednesday at Murray State (21-24, 12-10 OVC) with a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. at Central Park.

Last year, Memphis (22-35, 8-16 C-USA) earned a pair of 1-0 shutouts against Murray State in a doubleheader in Memphis. Junior RHP Ellen Roberts threw her first career no-hitter in game one, striking out eight and allowing one base runner in seven innings. Sophomore RHP Jordan Richwood struck out 11 in a four-hit shutout in game two. Senior second baseman Morgan Mosby scored both runs in the doubleheader.

Roberts Tosses No-Hitter as Memphis Earns Pair of 1-0 Victories over Murray State
Ellen Roberts threw a 1-0 no-hitter to help the University of Memphis softball team sweep a doubleheader against Murray State on Wednesday evening at the Tiger Softball Complex.

Memphis wrapped up Conference USA play this past weekend, dropping three games to second-place Houston at Tigers Softball Complex. The Tigers could not get their bats going in the first two games of the series, being outhit 17-5, in two 6-0 losses to the Cougars. Memphis got its offense going in the series finale, totaling 10 hits in the contest, but Houston came out on top, 7-4, despite tying a season-high five errors.

Mosby leads Memphis this season with a .302 batting average and a .390 slugging percentage. The Hernando, Miss. native has also put together a team-best 55 hits and 25 RBI in 54 games this season. Senior outfielder Lelani Bernardino has hit safely in 19 of the last 22 games for a .291 batting average. Bernardino leads the Tigers with 26 runs, 17 HBP, 16 stolen bases and four triples this season.

Roberts (13-23) leads the Tigers with a 3.01 ERA in the circle with 24 complete games and 176 strikeouts in 228.0 innings pitched. Richwood (8-11) ranks 30th in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings (8.6) with 158 strikeouts in 129.0 innings pitched.

Murray State comes intoWednesday having won four of its last six contests. The Racers swept SIU-Edwardsville last weekend and won one of two against Belmont and Tennessee State in OVC play. This will be the Racers first midweek game since they swept Bethel University on April 10.

Sophomore infielder Alexa Becker leads Murray State with a .313 batting average, .603 slugging percentage, 30 runs, 41 hits, 11 home runs and 28 RBI. Freshman infielder Shelbey Miller is second on the team with a .291 average along with a team-high 41 hits. In the circle, sophomore RHP CheyAnne Gaskey (12-7) leads the Racers with a 2.71 ERA with 132 strikeouts and 61 walks in 144.2 innings pitched. Senior RHP Shelby Kosmecki (8-16) has thrown 139.2 innings this season for Murray State with 107 strikeouts. Kosmecki has allowed 175 hits and 61 walks for a 3.61 ERA in 27 appearances.

The Tigers will take the weekend off with a league bye before they compete in the C-USA Tournament, May 9-11, in Tulsa, Okla. Memphis will learn its seeding in the tournament on Sunday after C-USA's final weekend of play.
