MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis softball team will compete in the Conference USA Championship Tournament in Greenville, N.C. as the No. 4 seed. The Tigers will play the tournament host and No. 5 seed East Carolina on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. ET (3:30 p.m. CT) at the ECU Softball Field.

The winner between Memphis and East Carolina will play the winner between No. 1 seed Houston and No. 8 seed Southern Miss in the semifinals on Friday at 4:30 p.m. ET. The championship game will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday and will be televised live nationally by CBS College Sports.

The fourth place regular season finish is a program best for the Tigers who are 35-11 and 15-7 in C-USA play. Memphis has won 14 of its last 15 games and earned a series victory at East Carolina (36-20, 14-10) earlier in the year, winning two of three games.

Prior to this season, the highest regular season finish for the U of M came in 2007 when the team finished sixth with a 36-25 overall record and 10-12 league mark. The Tigers ended seventh last season out of nine teams.

Houston (41-14, 19-5) and Tulsa (41-12, 19-5) are the co-C-USA regular season champions after both finished with a 19-5 league record. Houston earned the No. 1 seed since it won the three-game series against Tulsa. UAB (38-16, 17-6) finished third in the league.
