MEMPHIS - University of Memphis head softball coach Windy Thees announced the addition of two junior college transfers to the 2009-10 squad. JUCO All-American catcher Keanah Prestridge and all-region outfielder Alex Marshall will begin working with the team in the fall.
Prestridge was named a Third Team All-American as a sophomore in 2009 after helping the Seminole State Trojans finish third in the nation at the NJCAA National Tournament. The Moore, Okla., native caught nearly every game for the Trojans in her two years at Seminole State. The catcher was also a First Team All-Region II in 2009 after earning NFCA Second Team All-Region honors as a freshman in 2008.
As a sophomore, Prestridge hit .433 with 36 RBI and 29 runs scored. She played in 53 games and totaled 68 hits with 11 doubles in 157 at bats. She led her team as a freshman with a .453 batting average and 67 runs scored, while also totaling 50 RBI, nine home runs and 16 doubles in 80 games. Prestridge prepped at Moore High School and was an all-district, mid state all-conference and all-state selection.
Marshall was named to the All-ACCAC second team as a sophomore with Pima Community College in 2009. The outfielder also earned All-Region I First Team honors and was selected to the NFCA West All-Region Second Team.
Marshall hit .386 as a sophomore in 2009 with 37 RBI, 59 runs scored and seven stolen bases in 60 games played. She hit .361 as a freshman in 2008 with 10 RBI, 19 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 35 games played. Marshall prepped at Salpointe Catholic in Tucson, Ariz.
