Roberts and Aussie Spirit begin Play at World Championship

HAARLEM, Netherlands – Former University of Memphis softball pitcher Ellen Roberts begins play in the ISF XIV World Championship on Friday with the Australian national team.
Teams from 17 countries, including the United States, will compete for the world championship in Haarlem, Netherlands from August 15-24.
Roberts and the Aussie Spirit will play seven games before the medal rounds begin on August 22. Australia begins the tournament against Chinese Taipei on Friday at 2:30 am CT. The Aussie Spirit will also play Italy, Great Britain, the Netherlands, the United States, Botswana and the Dominican Republic before the medal rounds on August 22-24.
Australia and the United States will match up on Tuesday, August 19 at 10:30 am CT.

Roberts was named to the Aussie Spirit for the first time this year after being a member of the U19 Australian squad since 2008. She lettered four years at Memphis and holds 25 school pitching records including most wins with 41 and most strikeouts with 488.
