MEMPHIS - The University of Memphis softball team will play the National Pro Fastpitch All-Star team for the third-consecutive year in September as part of its fall exhibition schedule that was released on Thursday.

The Tigers will play Team NPF on Saturday, September 29 at 7 p.m. in the NPF Back-to-School Tour sponsored in part by USSSA with the support of Major League Baseball. The team is made up of all-stars from all four NPF teams and will make 21 stops and compete against 22 different schools. The site for the game in Memphis is to be determined.

Last year, current Memphis assistant coach Roya St. Clair was a member of the NPF team that competed against the Tigers. The U of M pitching staff combined for a one-hitter in a 3-0 loss to the all-stars.

Memphis will begin its fall exhibition play with a doubleheader against cross-town Christian Brothers University on Friday, September 28, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Tigers Softball Complex.

Following its contest with Team NPF, the Tigers will play two doubleheaders on the road in October. Austin Peay will host a pair of games on Sunday, October 7, in Clarksville, Tenn., beginning at 2 p.m. Memphis will then travel to Conway, Ark., on Saturday, Oct. 20, for a doubleheader at Central Arkansas beginning at 11 a.m.

The Tigers begin their second year under the direction of head coach Natalie Poole. Memphis finished 20-37 in 2012 and was 8-16 in Conference USA play. The U of M returns 13 letterwinners and welcomes seven newcomers to the program.
