Softball Announces Fall Schedule

For Immediate Release August 20, 2007 MEMPHIS - The University of Memphis softball team announced its fall 2007 exhibition schedule on Monday. The U of M will host a five-team tournament at the Tiger Softball Complex on September 29-30 and close the schedule with a doubleheader at the University of Alabama on October 27. Competing in the Tigers first ever fall tournament will be Southwest Tennessee Community College, Christian Brothers, Northwest Mississippi Community College and Henderson State University. Memphis will play Northwest and Southwest beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, and close out the series on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. with games against Henderson State and CBU. Memphis and Alabama will meet for the first time on Saturday, October 27, with the game times still to be determined. Alabama ended the 2007 season ranked ninth in the final NFCA softball poll. The Crimson Tide finished 55-10 last season with a NCAA Super Regional appearance. It was their third-straight NCAA Tournament trip. The Tigers will use the fall to adjust to a different lineup after losing six seniors from the 2007 team, including the team's two-starting pitchers.
