Softball Faces Christian Brothers in Tuesday Matchup

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -After splitting its series against Austin Peay yesterday in Clarksville, the University of Memphis softball team returns to the field tomorrow to face Christian Brothers for the third time this fall. The Tigers and Lady Bucs are slated to begin at 4 p.m. at CBU's Bland Field.
A week and a half ago, the Tigers shut out the Lady Bucs, 9-0, in game one of the doubleheader before taking game two, 4-1. Sophomore pitchers Sara Pearson and Jordan Richwoodcombined for 24 strikeouts, while Memphis recorded 20 hits on the evening.
Junior Ashleigh King is leading the Tigers at the plate with a .600 batting average followed by senior Lelani Bernardino (.417) and Pearson (.400). In the circle, Pearson has fanned 20 batters and given up just one earned run in 14 innings of work. Richwood has also been solid for the Tigers with 20 strikeouts and five earned runs given up in 16.2 innings. Junior Ellen Robertsmade her first appearance this season for Memphis in game two of the Austin Peay doubleheader yesterday, not allowing an earned run to help the Tigers to a 3-1 win.
Tomorrow's game is the final one in the city of Memphis as the Tigers close out the fall season on Saturday, Oct. 20 in a doubleheader against Central Arkansas in Conway.
