Softball Team Collecting Winter Coats for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis
Nov. 9, 2009
MEMPHIS - The University of Memphis softball team will be collecting winter coats to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis during the week of November 9-14.
Fans are encouraged to donate any of their extra quality winter coats for kids, adults and babies. The softball team will be collecting the coats alongside the University of Memphis Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) & the CHAMPS/Life Skills non-perishable food drive.
Donations of coats and food can be made at Monday's men's basketball game at FedExForum against CBU, Friday's men's and women's basketball games at FedExForum and Saturday's football game against UAB at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
Coat donations can also be made on Wednesday, November 11, from 12-1 p.m. in front of the Tiger Bookstore. Those wanting to donate and unable to make one of the four dates can bring their donation to the Tiger Softball office in room 201 of the Athletic Office Building.
Along with the winter coat drive, the softball team will also be sponsoring 30 individuals from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis with tickets to the Tiger's football game against UAB on Saturday.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis has offered leadership and support to thousands of youth ages 6-17 since 1962. Through one-to-one interaction with trained adult staff, Club members learn to make positive decisions about their lives. They do better in school, stay away from drugs and gangs and begin to set personal goals for themselves, which ultimately helps them to be responsible citizens of our community.
