Memphis Softball Adds Shanna Brown to Signing Class

For Immediate Release MEMPHIS - The University of Memphis softball program signed Hendrick Hudson High School shortstop Shanna Brown to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday. The Cortlandt Manor, New York, native becomes the second signee in the Tigers' 2009-10 recruiting class, joining SBEC prospect Morgan Mosby. A four-year letterwinner at Hendrick Hudson coached by John Glashoff, Brown started for the varsity team beginning in the eighth grade. She enters her senior season with a .383 batting average, five home runs, 54 RBI and 91 runs scored. Brown boasts a .420 on-base percentage and a .646 slugging percentage through four seasons. An all-league and all-section selection, Brown helped Hendrick Hudson finish 19-6 in 2008 and earn the league championship for the second-straight season. In her sophomore season in 2007, the team reached the state final four. She earned The Journal News All-Star Honorable Mention as a sophomore. Brown played travel ball as a second baseman and outfielder. She is the daughter of Kathy and Tim Brown.
