Anna Thomas Signs NLI with Memphis Softball

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis head softball coach Natalie Poole announced Tuesday that Bentonville, Ark., infielder Anna Thomas will join the Tigers squad in 2013-14.
"She is an impactful hitter," Poole said. "She definitely makes an impact at the plate. She's consistent. We're looking forward to having her in the infield to add some power as well as good defense."
Thomas has lettered three years at Bentonville High School as a first baseman and catcher under coach Kent Early, earning first team all-conference and being named to Northwest Arkansas Media's All-Big 6 Softball team in 2012. Last season, Thomas helped the Tigers reach the state finals by going 3-for-5 with a home run and a double in a 10-9 win over Conway in the state semifinals. In 2012, she hit .392 and had a fielding percentage of .990.
In club ball, Thomas played three years for the Arkansas Phenix (2010-12) as the team posted a 31-23-5 record in 2012. Thomas served as the team's co-captain last season, leading the team in hitting, doubles, RBI, walks and sac bunts. In 59 games, Thomas committed just one error and led the team in innings played. Last season, she hit .474 with 43 RBI, 23 runs scored and 20 extra base hits.
Thomas is the daughter of Kyle and Andrea Thomas. While at Bentonville HS, she has also has lettered three years in basketball and is involved with the wakeboarding club.
Thomas is the fourth announced signee in the 2013-14 class.
