Sami Jo Schulz Signs NLI with Memphis Softball
Nov. 21, 2012
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis head softball coach Natalie Poole announced Wednesday that middle infielder Sami Jo Schulz from Munford, Tenn., signed her national letter of intent to join the Tigers in 2013-14. "Sami is a great local talent," Poole said. "She's quick and has a ton of range. She has a good arm and reads the ball really well. She's really competitive and is a good athlete. We're excited to have her." A two-sport athlete at Munford High School, Schulz played shortstop on the softball team and outside hitter on the volleyball squad. She was the 2011 Star Softball Player of the Year and a Commercial Appeal Best of the Preps finalist. Schulz helped lead the Lady Cougars to back-to-back state tournaments. The 2011 trip was the first in the program's history. A leadoff hitter for Munford, Schulz scored nearly 80 percent of the time when she reached base. She is the daughter of Dave and Annette Schulz. Schulz is the sixth announced signee in the 2013-14 class. OF - Lindsay Crowdus (Houma Christian School - Houma, La.)
