MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis softball head coach Natalie Poole announced Thursday that Andy Lott has been elevated from assistant coach to associate head coach.

"I think it's well deserved," Poole said. "For me, it's just a formality because I already consider him a person I rely on heavily. I feel like if I were to step away for a moment or I needed help getting something done, that he could handle it as I would handle it. I have a lot of faith in what he's able to do; his knowledge of the game as well as how to be professional."

Lott enters his second season at Memphis after joining Poole from McNeese State prior to the 2012 season. A native of Chesapeake, Va., he has served as an assistant coach on Poole's staff the past five seasons, including three years at McNeese State and one season at Georgia Southern.

Prior to joining Poole at Georgia Southern, Lott spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Liberty University.
