The Memphis Tiger Network sat down with head women's tennis coach Lee Taylor Walker along with four nationally ranked Tigers; Courtney Collins, Stefanie Mikesz, Alyssa Hibberd and Tiffany Welcher to talk about the upcoming season.
Spring 2014: Totaled a 16-22 singles record and 21-18 doubles mark on the season ... Went 8-11 and 9-10 during dual play in singles and doubles, respectively ... Ranked as high as No. 38 in doubles during the season with teammate Caroline Wegner ... Helped Memphis to a 4-3 road win at No. 40 TCU with a straight-set victory over Sofiko Kadzhaya at No. 4 singles ... Began the spring with two wins over top-30 doubles teams with Wegner at the Miami Spring Invite ... Defeated Vanderbilt's No. 28 Ashleigh Antal and Sydney Campbell, 6-3, and Texas' No. 21 Breaunna Addison and Pippa Horn, 7-6 (7).
Fall 2013: Posted an 8-8 singles record and 10-7 doubles mark ... Advanced to the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional doubles championship with partner Caroline Wegner ... Upset Kentucky's No. 32 Caitlin McGraw and Nadia Ravita, 8-0, in the regional semifinals ... Named back draw singles co-champion with teammate Stefanie Mikesz at the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic ... Named doubles co-champion at the Memphis Collegiate Invite with Wegner after going 3-0 ... Advanced to the round of 16 at the Ohio Valley Regional with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Middle Tennessee's Irina Constantinide and a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Kentucky's Edmee Morin-Kougoucheff ... Upset the only ranked opponent she faced in the fall with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Auburn's No. 93 Paula de Man at the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic.
Spring 2013: Named to the Conference USA Second Team Singles after a 26-9 record in singles and 27-10 mark in doubles ... Ranked No. 20 in the Ohio Valley Region at the end of the season ... Her 27 wins in doubles ties for third best for single-season doubles wins at Memphis ... Tied for a team-high 16 wins in dual matches with a 16-3 record ... Went 13-2 in her last 15 matches of the season ... Clinched wins for Memphis over three ranked teams - Virginia, Notre Dame and Columbia ... Defeated the second ranked opponent of her career with a come-from-behind win over Vanderbilt's No. 64 Georgina Sellyn, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2), at No. 5 singles ... Went 26-10 in doubles with partner Tiffany Welcher ... Picked up wins over Saint Mary's No. 37 Catherine Isip and Elizabeth Searl, 8-4, and Notre Dame's No. 52 Julie Sabacinski and Britney Sanders, 8-5, at No. 2 ... Duo won 12-straight matches over a span of two months ... Clinched the doubles point over Florida State with an 8-5 win over Daneika Borthwick and Francesca Segarelli at No. 1 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Fall 2012: Ranked No. 31 in doubles with partner Tiffany Welcher in the ITA preseason rankings ... Went 8-5 in singles and doubles during the fall ... Had a five-match winning streak in the middle of October with three victories coming at the Memphis Invitational #1 ... Advanced to the round of 16 at the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional after a 6-4, 7-6 (5) victory over Kentucky's Khristina Blajkevtic and a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Cincinnati's Jasmine Lee ... Advanced to the regional semifinals in doubles with teammate Tiffany Welcher with wins of 8-0, 8-1 and 8-3 ... Won seven-straight doubles matches during the month of October ... Won her opening match at the ITA All-American Championships with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Elena Najera of Utah.
Spring 2012: Named All-Conference USA Third Team Singles and All-Conference USA Third Team Doubles with partner Tiffany Welcher ... Finished the season No. 67 in doubles with Welcher after reaching a career-best No. 28 on Feb. 28 ... Had a record of 26-12 in singles and 26-10 in doubles ... Won 12 of her 13 matches in the spring in straight sets ... Posted a six-match winning streak in singles, which included a victory over 67th-ranked Kansas State's Amina St. Hill, 6-4, 6-4 ... Teamed with Welcher to defeat No. 49 Alex Leatu and Jackie Wu of Vanderbilt, 8-4.
Fall 2011: Immediately announced her presence in the collegiate tennis world with straight-set triumphs over Western Kentucky's Morgan Freeman (6-0, 6-0), Lipscomb's Elizabeth Keevil (6-1, 6-3) and Middle Tennessee's Taylor Coffey (6-1, 6-1) to take the Raiders bracket at the MT Shootout ... Went 3-0 in doubles with teammate Tiffany Welcher ... Teamed up with Welcher to take the Blue Flight doubles title at the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic ... Reached the championship match of the singles Blue Flight with a 6-0, 6-4, upset of second-seeded Naella Wawrinka (Stetson) ... Helped the Tigers achieve the program's best-ever showing at the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regionals, reaching the main draw doubles championship match with Welcher ... Posted four doubles victories en route to the title tilt, taking out two seeded teams ... Reached her fourth doubles final of the fall with Welcher at the June Stewart Invite, posting wins over Lipscomb's Alyssa Bellini and Deahna Welcher, 8-1, and MTSU's Yuiri Nomoto and Flavia Nagayama, 8-4 ... At the Memphis Collegiate Invite, opened the event with a 6-4, 6-1, win over No. 90 Courtney McLane of Alabama before falling to Arizona's Kim Stubbe, 4-6, 5-7 ... Enjoyed success at the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic with an opening-round win over Oklahoma State's C.C. Sardinha, 7-6 (6), 6-2, and a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3) round of 16 victory over Tennessee's Joanna Henderson before retiring due to illness.
Played on the Australian Juniors circuit out of Rosny College ... The highest-ranked female player in Tasmania at No. 53 in open women in Australia, having been as high as No. 47 ...
