Senior
Fall 2002:
Had the Lady Tigers' best fall singles record at 12-2...Won two tournament singles titles and appeared in a third final at MTSU...Made it to the ITA Southeast Regional qualifying singles draw where she lost to Kentucky's Kacie Anson, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4...Won the B Singles title at Saint Louis to open the fall season...Also went 3-0 trough the Southern Illinois-Carbondale tournament...Also won the No. 3 singles crown at teh U of M tournament, downing teammate Vicky Gruber for a second time...Teamed with newcomer Marlene Dirnstorfer to post a 6-0 mark in doubles...The duo won their only fall title in the B Doubles championship at Middle Tennessee...An injury to Dirnstorfer meant Rao played doubles with Gruber at the U of M tournament, where the duo went 1-1...That pair also teamed up for hte main doubles draw at the ITA Southeast Regional, winning their opening match 8-0 over the team of jackson and Mayhum from North Carolina A&T before falling to South Carolina's Suzuki/Wiggins, 8-3.
Junior
Spring 2002:
Was 12-3 in singles and 7-10 in doubles for the Lady Tigers, posting her singles mark at No. 3 singles and teaming with Annika Westberg for a 7-10 mark at No. 2 doubles.
Fall 2001:
Posted a 5-6 singles record...Made it to the championship match of the Purple Aces Invite in Evansville...Teamed with Rebecca Garner to post a 2-3 doubles record and was 1-2 in doubles with Annika Westberg.
Sophomore
Spring 2001:
Rao again had a solid year at No. singles, despite battling
an ankle injury the second half of the spring season...She
finished with a 9-13 record in singles and teamed with
newcomer Rebecca Garner to post a record of 8-13 at No. 3
doubles.
Fall 2000:
Rao did not compete in any tournaments during the fall season.
Freshman
Spring 2000:Joined the Lady Tigers in January...Posted a 13-6 record overall in singles, including a mark of 4-1 at No. 5, 7-2 at No. 6 and 2-3 at No. 4...Also teamed with fellow freshman Sabrina Lindemann for a 2-4 record at No. 2 doubles.
Prep:
Graduated from Good Shepherd Secondary School in 1998...Also
competed in rowing and track and field...Rao was ranked No. 1
in the state in the Under-18s and ranked No. 15 in the country
in ladies tennis...She has been a top-ranked junior in the
state since she was 12.
Personal:
Rao is the daughter of Surya and Leena Rao...She was born November 11, 1980...
She also enjoys travelling.
