MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's tennis team (2-0) showed little fatigue from their match yesterday as the Lady Tigers posted a sweep for the second-straight day with a 7-0 win over UT Martin (0-1) at The Racquet Club of Memphis.

"Yesterday and today's matches were a great start for our season," said head coach Lee Taylor Walker. "I'm proud of the team for having great focus and concentration. Matches like that can easily become sloppy, but the girls didn't let that happen. I am thankful to have a group of girls that play with great attitudes and intensity regardless of our opponent."

The Lady Tigers earned the doubles point with ease as sophomore Alyssa Hibberd and graduate student Tiffany Welcher earned an 8-1 win over Alice Laing and Anna Winkelmann, while sophomore Liza Tymchenko and freshman Skylar Kuykendall won 8-0 over Johanie Van Zyl and Katie McCall.

In singles play, senior Courtney Collins won 6-1, 6-1 over Ivon Simic at No. 1 singles. Junior Stefanie Mikesz played in her first singles match of the spring, recording a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Van Zyl in the No. 2 spot, while Tymchenko posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Laing in the No. 3 position. In No. 4 singles, Hibberd cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jessica Silva, and Kuykendall collected a 6-1, 6-0 victory over McCall at No. 5. Senior Kelly Gray wrapped up the Memphis scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Florence Nicole in the No. 6 spot.

Memphis will compete in the Georgia Invitational in Athens from Friday through Sunday as the Lady Tigers will face No. 6 Georgia, No. 67 Kansas State and Troy. Memphis begins competition at 9:30 a.m. (ET) Friday with singles against Troy.
