MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's tennis team (3-2) recorded their third sweep of the season with a 7-0 win over Morehead State (0-4) on Friday night at The University Club.

"I'm very proud of the girls tonight for their focus and execution," said head coach Lee Taylor Walker. "We adjusted well to The University Club facility and we're looking forward to playing there the next few weeks. We want to pack out the U-Club on Feb. 15 and hope everyone will put it on their calendar."

Memphis won the first doubles match with a walkover before Tiffany Welcher and Alyssa Hibberd defeated Morgan Wright and Sandrine Beaule, 8-0, to clinch the doubles point for the Lady Tigers. Shortly after, Courtney Collins and Kelly Gray picked up an 8-3 victory over Lissa Pacheco-Brosseau and Dominique McLean to sweep the Eagles in doubles.

In singles, the Lady Tigers took a 2-0 lead right away with another walkover. Stefanie Mikesz won at the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-0, over Beaule before Gray followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Pacheco-Brosseau at No. 4 singles to clinch the match for Memphis. At No. 1, Collins defeated Victoria Cran, 6-1, 6-2, while Skylar Kuykendall won in the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 6-1, over Dominique McLean. The final match of the night was shortened to one set with Hibberd winning 6-0 over Wright to give Memphis the sweep.

Memphis will return to action Friday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. against No. 60 Kansas State at The University Club. The Wildcats will be the first nationally-ranked opponent to play in Memphis against the Lady Tigers since 2003.
