Women's Tennis Picks Up First Road Win

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's tennis team (1-1) opened its road season with a 6-1 victory at UT-Chattanooga, Friday. The Lady Tigers won all three doubles matches, then won five of the six singles matches to clinch the win. Senior Marlene Dirnstorfer came back from a 6-3 first set loss to win her No. 1 singles match, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. She also teamed with freshman Brooke Cowie to win the No. 1 doubles match, 9-8 (5), the second straight No. 1 match to go to a tiebreaker for the duo. Andrea Feichtinger and Alex Tjioe picked up an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles, while the duo of Kristin Noble and Kathrin Kohl capped the doubles sweep with an 8-6 victory.
