MEMPHIS, Tenn. - - The University of Memphis women's tennis team swept Rhodes College, 7-0, to salvage a sweep of the final two weekend matches Sunday at WellWorx. The 7-0 win improves the Lady Tigers' record to 2-3 after a 6-1 loss to Samford Saturday night.

Memphis gave up just six points in sweeping all three doubles matches, then won all six singles matches in straight sets.

"It was good for us today in that everyone got a win," Head Coach Lee Taylor Walker said. "The more experience we get, the more we'll get to the point where we expect to win every time out, no matter who we play."

The win helped Memphis bounce back from a tough match against Samford Saturday night in which the Lady Tigers were up in five of the six singles matches in the first hour of the match.

"The difference is that Samford is a team that won their conference two years ago and made it to the finals last year and had that confidence and didn't panic when they got the lead. I think it just shows that we had got uncomfortable in a couple of situations and they took advantage of it," Walker said. "Samford just played hard, but to win today was a good end to a tough weekend."
