No. 32 Memphis Drops 4-0 Decision at No. 12 Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 32 University of Memphis women's tennis team (6-3) was unable to keep their winning streak alive Friday afternoon at the Currey Tennis Center, falling 4-0 to No. 12 Vanderbilt (6-3).
Vanderbilt took a 1-0 advantage by taking the doubles point with 8-3 wins at No. 1 and 2. Stefanie Mikesz and Anki Wind dropped just their second match in dual play this season as they fell to Marie Casares and Ashleigh Antal at No. 2. Courtney Colton and Lauren Mira clinched the point for the Commodores at No. 1 by upsetting No. 38 Alyssa Hibberd and Caroline Wegner.
Vanderbilt grabbed a 2-0 lead as Frances Altick defeated Skylar Kuykendall at No. 2 by a score of 6-0, 6-2. No. 48 Georgina Sellyn extended the Commodores' advantage with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 1 over No. 99 Mikesz. Casares then gave Vanderbilt the win with a 7-6 (3), 6-2 victory at No. 4 over Hibberd.
Wegner, Wind and Marta Morga all won their first sets in singles play. Wegner dropped the second set and was trailing in the third when the match ended, while Wind was up in the second set and Morga was trailing in the second.
Memphis heads to Oxford, Miss., on Sunday to take on No. 34 Ole Miss at 12 p.m. (CT) at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center.
