Lady Tigers Even Overall Record
Feb. 26, 2008
MURRAY, Ky. - - The University of Memphis women's tennis team (4-4, 0-1 C-USA) evened their overall record for the season with a 4-2 win over 2007 NCAA participants Murray State (4-2), Tuesday. Memphis had to come from behind for the victory after dropping all three doubles matches to trail 1-0 heading in to the singles matches. But the Lady Tigers stormed back with wins at No. 1, 2, 3 and 6 singles to take the victory, with Kristin Chamberlain's (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes) 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 6 singles locking up the victory for the Lady Tigers. Fellow St. Agnes graduate Ashley Murdock won her eighth straight match and her third straight win at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 over Whitehaven graduate Angela McGahee. McGahee got the better of the duo's match-up on the doubles side though, teaming with Anne Pennington to defeat Murdock and Marjorie Ondeck, 9-7, at No. 1 doubles. The Lady Tigers will return to home action, Friday, when they host Ball State, at 2 p.m. at WellWorx. Memphis 4, Murray State 2
