Ashley Murdock picked up a win at the No. 1 singles spot on Fri., Feb. 26 against the 20th-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks, but the Lady Tigers fell 6-1 to their opponents at the Dills Indoor Tennis Stadium in Fayetteville, Ark. The Lady Tigers fall to 5-9 on the season with Friday's loss. Arkansas improves to 8-2 on the season. The Razorbacks only two losses came to No. 8 Michigan and No. 40 Rice.

Murdock, a senior from Memphis, Tenn., defeated Arkansas' Stephanie Roy, 7-6, 6-2, on Friday. With the win, the St. Agnes-product improved to 8-6 at the No. 1 position during the 2009-10 season. Roy, a sophomore from Montreal, Quebec, was 7-1 coming into Friday's match with Murdock. Roy's only previous loss on the season came to fourth-ranked Denise Dy of Washington earlier this season at the No. 2 singles spot. Roy had wins over opponents from ranked schools such as No. 32 TCU, No. 40 Rice, No. 42 Tulsa, No. 67 Oklahoma State and No. 71 Utah.

Andrea Arques-Garcia, a freshman from Alicante, Spain, won the first set against Valentina Starkova at No. 4 singles, 7-6. In the second set, the Arkansas netter defeated Arques-Garcia, 7-5, to force a third-set tiebreaker. Starkova defeated Arques-Garcia in the tiebreaker, . The Memphis netter falls to 2-7 on the year after a hard-fought match. Her opponent, Starkova, improves to 5-4 in singles this season.

At No. 2 singles, Kate Lukomskaya defeated Marjorie Ondeck, 6-1, 6-3. Ondeck falls to 4-7 on the season.

At the No. 3 spot, Amanda Brown fell 6-0, 6-1, to Kelsey Sundaram. Brown's record now stands at 4-7 in singles for the 2010 spring season.

At the No. 5 singles slot, Kelly Gray was defeated by Fernanda Perrotta, 6-2, 6-4. Gray falls to 2-10 in singles this season.

At the No. 6 spot, Annejimin Koenen upended Dara Toulch, 6-3, 6-2. Toulch falls to 1-3 on the year.

In doubles, Lukomskaya and Sundaram upended Murdock and Ondeck at the No. 1 slot. Murdock and Ondeck are 4-7 in doubles this season.

At the No. 2 doubles spot, Roy and Starkova defeated Brown and Arques-Garcia, 8-1. The Memphis pair falls to 1-5 on the year.

At the No. 3 slot, Perrotta and Koenen defeated Gray and Toulch, 8-1. The loss is the first of the season for Gray and Toulch.

The Lady Tigers will play two matches on Saturday in Fayetteville. At 9 a.m., Memphis will take on the Sooners of Oklahoma at the Dills Indoor Tennis Stadium. At 2:30 p.m., the Lady Tigers will take on Arkansas Tech at the Billingsley Tennis Center.
