No. 43 Women's Tennis Blanks Kansas State, 4-0

NEW YORK - The No. 43 University of Memphis women's tennis team (8-4) defeated Kansas State (5-5) for the third-straight year as the Lady Tigers handed the Wildcats a 4-0 defeat Saturday afternoon at Columbia's Dick Savitt Tennis Center. The win was head coach Lee Taylor Walker's 90th career victory at Memphis.
Memphis jumped out to a 1-0 lead with wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles, improving to 7-0 this season when winning the doubles point. Alyssa Hibberd and Caroline Wegner returned to the winning column as they posted an 8-0 win at No. 2 over Palma Juhasz and Maria Panaite. The Lady Tigers clinched the doubles point as Marta Morga and Liza Tymchenko defeated Livia Cirnu and Riley Nizzi, 8-3, at No. 3 for a 1-0 Memphis lead.
Hibberd won her second match of the day with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 6 over Nizzi to make it 2-0. Anki Wind extended Memphis' lead with her sixth win in dual play this season, defeating Cirnu, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4 for a 3-0 advantage. Skylar Kuykendall then clinched the win for the Lady Tigers as she took down Panaite, 6-0, 6-4, at No. 2.
Memphis returns to action tomorrow to face No. 36 Columbia at 9 a.m. (CT).
