Women's Tennis Gets By Southern University, 4-3

NEW ORLEANS, LA. - The University of Memphis women's tennis team improved to 5-5 for the season with a 4-3 thriller over Southern University (Baton Rouge) in the first day of the University of New Orleans tournament. The two teams played singles first, evenly splitting the matches 3-3. In the deciding doubles portion of the match, Memphis claimed a win at No. 1 singles and fell at No. 3 to leave the No. 2 doubles match to decide the outcome. Memphis' Andrea Feichtinger and Alex Tjioe came back from 6-5 down to take the match, 8-6, to give Memphis its first victory of the spring. The Lady Tigers will play host UNO, Saturday, at 2 p.m.
