Lady Tigers Blank Saint Louis, Murray State

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The No. 25 University of Memphis women's tennis team (10-4) continued their dominant play at home by sweeping Saint Louis (8-5) and Murray State (3-5) on Sunday at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
Memphis began the day against Saint Louis, posting 8-1 wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take an early 1-0 lead over the Billikens. In singles, Skylar Kuykendall gave Memphis a 2-0 advantage with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mia Elmore at No. 2. Courtney Collins moved into fourth all-time in career singles wins as she downed Stephanie Hollis, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1 to record her 87th singles victory.
Clinching the match for Memphis was Caroline Wegner, who defeated Madison Cook, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 3 to make it 4-0 Memphis. Also picking up wins in singles were Alyssa Hibberd, Stefanie Mikesz and Kelly Gray, who helped the Lady Tigers claim a 7-0 victory.
In their second match of the day, the Lady Tigers cruised in doubles with an 8-0 win at No. 3 from Kuykendall and Gray before Hibberd and Tiffany Welcher sealed an 8-4 triumph at No. 1 to allow Memphis to jump out to a 1-0 lead over Murray State.
Collins followed with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles over Ashley Canty before Mikesz dispatched Carolyn Heurth at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Wegner clinched the match for the Lady Tigers once again, winning 6-1, 6-4 over Megan Blue at No. 3. Kuykendall, Hibberd and Gray followed with three more wins to complete the sweep for Memphis.
The Lady Tigers return to the court Saturday when they host Illinois State at 2 p.m.
