March 18, 2007
EL PASO, Texas - The University of Memphis women's tennis team fell to 1-9 on the season and remains winless in Conference USA play following a 7-0 loss at UTEP, Sunday. The Lady Tigers were swept in doubles play and dropped all six singles matches in the loss, which gave UTEP its eighth win of the season and their second straight. The Miners have now won six of their last eight matches after opening the season 1-5. Freshman Amanda Brown was the lone Lady Tiger to go more than two sets, as Brown bounced back from a 6-2 first set loss to win the second set 6-4, forcing a tiebreaker. Unfortunately, Brown fell 10-4 in the final set to lose the match two sets to one. Memphis will return to town for classes this week, then will venture to Florida for a trio of matches, beginning at Stetson, Thursday. The Lady Tigers will then play at Rollins College, Friday, and will face league foe UCF, Sunday. UTEP 7, Memphis 0
