MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The No. 31 University of Memphis women's tennis team (13-4) extended its winning streak to six matches Saturday as the Lady Tigers defeated South Alabama (11-6), 5-0, and Southern Illinois (10-2), 7-0, at The Racquet Club of Memphis.

Memphis began the day against South Alabama, cruising in doubles to take the point and an early 1-0 lead. Tiffany Welcher and Alyssa Hibberd took down Mariya Krachok and Raomna Ghermani, 8-1, at No. 2 before No. 44 Courtney Collins and Kelly Gray defeated Mchaela Meszarosova and Emily Newton, 8-2, at No. 1 to clinch the point.

In singles, Welcher picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles while Hibberd claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Cinta Maria Papke at No. 4 to push Memphis' lead to 3-0. Stefanie Mikesz clinched the win for the Lady Tigers with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at No. 6 before No. 39 Collins ended the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 over Meszarosova for a 5-0 victory.

The Lady Tigers continued their dominant play in doubles against Southern Illinois in the afternoon as Welcher and Hibberd won 8-1 over Melanie Delsart and Anastacia Simons at No. 1 before No. 63 Mikesz and Caroline Wegner earned an 8-2 win at No. 2 over Jennifer Dien and Natasha Tomishima.

In singles, No. 39 Collins moved into a tie for second all-time in career singles wins as she picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win over Delsart for her 91st career win. Mikesz also moved up the all-time list as she won her 62nd match with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4 over Ariadna Cairo Baza to move into a tie for eighth.

Also in action was Liza Tymchenko, who won 6-2, 6-4 over Anita Lee at No. 3 while Skylar Kuykendall won a tight match against Tomishima at No. 2 , 7-6 (7), 6-4. Memphis earned a 7-0 win when Wegner won 6-1, 6-7 (5), 10-7, over Dien at No. 5 while Gray defeated Simons, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6.

The Lady Tigers will play their final regular season home matches of the season next Saturday when Memphis welcomes Conference USA opponents UTEP and Southern Miss. Play will begin at 9:30 a.m. at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
