Women's Tennis Swept by Two-Time Defending NAIA Champs, 7-0

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - With six nationally-ranked singles players and two nationally-ranked doubles teams standing across the net for Friday's non-conference match, the Lady Tiger tennis team (3-11) battled, but was swept, 7-0, by NAIA No. 1 Auburn-Montgomery, Friday afternoon. The Lady Senators jumped up early, 1-0, with wins from all three doubles spots. The duo of Nadia Lysak and Kamila Dadakodjaeva, the top ranked doubles team in the NAIA, got a fight from the Lady Tiger tandem of Brooke Cowie and Alex Tjioe, but prevailed, 8-5. The Lady Senators' other nationally ranked tandem, No. 6 Khady Berthe and Aina Rafolomanantsiosika used an 8-1 win to keep the Lady Tigers out of the scoring column. No. 18 Rafolomanantsiosika then made the score, 2-0, in AUM's favor with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ekin Zafir at No. 4 singles. Kamila Dadakhodjaeva, the No. 3 ranked singles player in the NAIA, then downed Memphis sophomore Brooke Cowie in straight sets at No. 2 singles to put the Lady Senators up 3-0. Khady Berthe then closed out the match with a straight set win over Kristin Noble to decide the match. Lady Tiger Andrea Feichtinger led early in her first set, but fell 7-5 in the first, then battled, but came up short, 6-2, in the second against Nadia Lysak, the No. 20 ranked singles player in the country. Memphis will remain at home for two more matches, starting against UALR, Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. That match will be played on the outdoor courts at Rhodes College.
