Women's Tennis Posts Shutout in Regular Season Finale

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - - With predicted rain and strong winds in the area on Thursday afternoon, the Lady Tiger tennis team took the storm indoors with a 7-0 shutout of Central Arkansas in the regular season finale. The win pushes Memphis to 9-12 on the season with the Conference USA championships looming next on the Lady Tiger schedule. The loss drops Central Arkansas to 2-13 for the season. "It was good to have everyone get a win and build some positive momentum heading in to the league tournament," Head Coach Lee Taylor Walker said. Memphis lost just five points combined in all three doubles matches, then won all six singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore Ashley Murdock won her sixth straight match, 7-5, 6-0 at No. 1, improving to 15-4 on the season. Both Marjorie Ondeck and Amanda Brown won a set 6-0 in their respective matches at No. 2 and 3, and freshman Lindsey Wiseman improved to 7-5 at No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-4 win. The Lady Tigers will await seeding to see who they play in the Conference USA championships, which begin next Thursday in Houston. Memphis 7, Central Arkansas 0
