Ninth-seeded Memphis captured a 4-3 victory over No. 11 UAB in the consolation rounds of the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship on Friday at Seneca Park. The Lady Tigers will now face Southern Miss on Saturday at noon, while UAB concludes its tournament run tied for 11th place with East Carolina.

UAB earned the doubles point after the team of Femke de Boer and Marrit Jansma won at No. 1, defeating the Memphis team of Marlene Dirnstorfer and Viktoria Gruber, 8-5.

Memphis bounced back, winning at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4. Dirnstorfer tallied a 7-5, 6-0 victory over de Boer at No. 1, while Gruber swept Annemieke Elsholz, 6-3, 6-3. Yesica Ares rallied back from a second set loss to claim a 7-6 (4), 1-6, 6-4 decision over Julie von Samson.

The Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship continues on Saturday with the semifinals and consolation rounds. No. 1 Tulane will take on Houston at noon on Saturday at Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Host Louisville will face No. 2 TCU in the second semifinal match at 3 p.m.
