Seniors Dara Toulch and Amanda Brown each won a match Sunday in order to pick up a pair of third place finishes in the Memphis Collegiate Invitational.

Toulch trailed 3-2, then broke and held serve to go ahead in the second set after losing the first set 6-1. She held on to win the second set, 6-3, forcing the tiebreaker. Both players battled their first serves in the tiebreak, but Toulch connected on a strong serve that UT Martin's Jodie Tiley pushed in the net for a 10-5 Toulch victory in Blue 3 Singles.

Amanda Brown had a little easier time in her match, defeating Ole Miss' Soledad Podlipnik, 6-2, 6-3 in their third-place match-up.

Three other Tigers went to tiebreaks, but did not fare as well. Senior Ashley Murdock battled to win her opening set 7-6 (4), but fell 6-4 in the second against Murray State's Angela McGahee. With Murdock up 5-4 in the tiebreak, McGahee used her big serve to pull to 7-7, then aced Murdock for an 8-7 advantage. McGahee then closed out the win 10-7 for her third-place finish.

Freshman Courtney Collins also won her first set of her third place match against C-USA foe Emma Levy from Tulane, 6-2, but came up just short in the second set, 7-5. In the third set tiebreak, she pushed Levy throughout, but came up short 10-6.

Lady Tiger freshman Andrea Arques-Garcia was a fourth Tiger who played a super tiebreak, Sunday, after winning her opening set 6-4 in White 2 Singles. But Tulane's Caroline Gerber came back with a 6-3 win in the second, and claimed the match with a 10-6 decision in the tiebreak to pick up the victory.

Senior Marjorie Ondeck grabbed a fifth place finish in her draw, defeating Murray State's Alexis Webb, 6-2, 6-2 to complete the tournament with a 2-1 mark in singles.

Memphis will have a few days of practice before leaving for Bloomington, Ind., where the Lady Tigers will participate in the University of Indiana tournament, Friday through Sunday. Results can be found at www.gotigersgo.com at the completion of each day's matches.
