Lady Tigers Wrap up First Day at UALR Invitational

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - After dropping all their season opening singles matches against South Alabama, the Lady Tiger tennis team rebounded by winning four of the six matches against Central Arkansas, including the first-ever singles wins for freshman Marjorie Ondeck and Dara Toulch. Ondeck downed Petra Keilova of Central Arkansas 6-2, 7-5, while Toulch defeated Heidi Miller, 6-2, 6-3. Sophomores Ekin Zafir and Flavia Russo also picked up wins against Central Arkansas, as Zafir defeated Charissa Colclough, 0-6, 6-4, 7-5, while Russo defeated Rebecca McCullough, 6-4, 6-1. In one round of doubles against Northwestern State, the Lady Tigers split their two matches that were completed, with the team of Ondeck and senior Alex Tjioe defeating the team of Bogusia Patzer and Catalinaa Villegas, 8-4, while the team of Flavia Russo and Amanda Brown fell 8-0 to the duo of Marcia Alcantara and Daniela Posada. The action will continue Saturday for Memphis in the mock dual match format. Weather pushed Friday's matches back slightly as the area battled rain and strong winds for most of the morning.
