COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of Memphis women's tennis team opened up its first rounds of play with just two doubles matches, Thursday. The tandem of Ekin Zafir and Dara Toulch fell to Colorado State's duo of Stople and Satherlie, 8-4, while teammates Flavia Russo and Amanda Brown were defeated by the Colorado duo of Ebbert and Cruite, 8-5.

Memphis will have a busier schedule on Friday, playing two rounds of singles and one round of doubles in the Air Force Academy Invitational.

Freshman Marjorie Ondeck will open her Flight 2 singles competition against Franziska Jendrian of Colorado, while Ekin Zafir will open her Flight 4 schedule against Wyoming's Andrea House at 12:45 p.m.

In Flight 5 singles, freshman Dara Toulch will open against Colorado State's Kristen Strople, an opponent she faced in doubles competition on Thursday afternoon. In Flight 8 singles, Flavia Russo will face home-standing Jennifer Walters of Air Force at 11:15 a.m. Also tipping off at 11:15 will be freshman Amanda Brown in Flight 9 singles. Brown will face Colorado's Christina Macey.
