MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Sophomore Christina Wieser will try to pick up her first tournament tile in the C Consolation Singles bracket at the Middle Tennessee Fall Invitational, Sunday. Wieser defeated Lipscomb's Samantha Duggan, 6-3, 6-2, in her semifinal, Saturday, to advance to a 9 a.m., Sunday match against UT-Martin's Elly Shearman for the championship.

She will be the lone Lady Tiger in a singles championship match as senior Marlene Dirnstorfer and junior Kristin Noble both lost in the semifinals, Saturday. Dirnstorfer was defeated by UT-Martin's Sari Nortje, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8) in A singles, while Noble fell to Belmont's Linda Johnansson, 1-6, 6-1, 10-7 in the B Consolation singles bracket.

The doubles team of Dirnstorfer and freshman Brooke Cowie will play in the A Doubles final at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, against the Chattanooga duo of Lindsey Ballard and Bonnie Adams. The other Lady Tiger tandem of Wieser and Alex Tjioe fell 8-1 to the Middle Tennessee team of Jacqui Williams and Claudio Szabo, Saturday. Freshman Kathrin Kohl teamed with UT-Martin's Monica Bertram to go 1-1 in the round robin doubles draw set up for the C doubles entrants. They won 9-7 over Western Kentucky's Brittney Wiz and Jillian Becher, and lost to Morehead State's Ariana Gracia and Medrano-Lea Lobnitz, 9-7.
