Two Lady Tigers Advance on Day Three of Ohio Valley Regional

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Junior Alyssa Hibberd and sophomore Caroline Wegner advanced to the main draw doubles semifinals while Wegner moved on to the main draw quarterfinals on the third day of the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional at The Racquet Club of Memphis.
Memphis began the day in doubles with Hibberd and Wegner defeating Tennessee's Eve Repic and Laurence Guevremont, 8-5, for Hibberd's third-straight trip to the regional semifinals in doubles. Also on the court for the Lady Tigers was freshman Anki Wind and senior Stefanie Mikesz, who fell 8-3 to the tournament's Purdue's No. 1 seed of Mara Schmidt and Krisztina Kapitany while freshman Marta Morga and sophomore Skylar Kuykendall dropped an 8-3 decision to the No. 5 duo of Julia Fellerhoff and Rebecca Shine of Louisville.
In singles, four of the six Lady Tigers moved on to the round of 16 with Wind's 6-3, 1-6, 6-0 victory over the No. 2 seed Kelsey Dieters of Kentucky highlighting the round for Memphis. No. 15 Wegner took down Xavier's Sydney Liggins 7-5, 6-1 while No. 9 Kuykendall came out victorious in a 7-6 (5), 6-3 match over Middle Tennessee's Tiffany William. Also winning for Memphis in the second round was No. 10 Hibberd, who defeated Kentucky's Edmee Morin-Kougoucheff, 6-2, 6-1.
In the round of 16, Wegner advanced to Monday's quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Wind. At the top of the draw, Hibberd dropped a close 6-4, 7-5 match to No. 5 Fellerhoff while Kuykendall fell 6-0, 6-3 to No. 8 Marie Casares of Vanderbilt.
Wegner will begin day four of the regional at 9:30 a.m. (CT) with her quarterfinal match against Repic. Hibberd and Wegner's doubles semifinal match is set for 6:30 p.m. against Kentucky's No. 2 seed Caitlin McGraw and Nadia Ravita.
