Lindemann and Gonzalez-Gordo Still Alive in Doubles Draw

WAKE FOREST, N.C. - - Seniors Sabrina Lindemann (Linz, Austria) and Monica Gonzalez-Gordo (Barcelona, Spain) were each eliminated from the singles bracket at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Southeast Regional, but will advance to the Round of 16 in doubles after downing the team of Ana Maria Cibils and Marina Tasheva from Tennessee Tech, 8-6. The Memphis duo, which is seeded fourth in the tournament, will face Coastal Carolina's Medina Bajrambasic and Marie Matrka at 8 a.m., Saturday to see who will advance to the quarterfinal round. The other Lady Tiger doubles team of Sumitra Rao (Madras, India) and Viktoria Gruber (Vienna, Austria) were eliminated from their portion of the doubles bracket by the team of Ayako Suzuki and Danielle Wiggins from South Carolina, 8-3. Lindemann, who was the 15th seeded singles player, won her opening singles match6-2, 6-0 over Liberty's Andreea Cotuna, but fell to a player from Duke for the third time in four years as the Blue Devils' Hillary Adams downed Lindemann, 6-1, 6-3.
Gonzalez-Gordo, who was also in the main draw of the singles tournament, defeated North Carolina State's Jennifer Jassawalla, 7-5, 6-1 to advance to the Round of 32, where she fell to No. 11 seed Aniela Mojzis from North Carolina, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
