Women's Tennis Has Tough Second Day at CUSA Fall Championships

Fort Worth, Texas - The Memphis Lady Tigers, after a stellar first day, were shutout in singles action Saturday at the CUSA Fall Women's Tennis Championships. Sixth-seed Sabrina Lindemann, a Memphis junior, lost to Paty Aburto of TCU, 6-0, 6-4, in the quarterfinals and junior Monica Gonzalez-Gordo suffered a tense loss to the third-seed, Leoni Weirich of TCU, 6-2, 4-6 (10-6). Rebecca Garner was the only remaining Lady Tiger to participate in winner's bracket action today. She lost in the semi-finals of the C Flight, 6-1, 6-2, to Sjouke Liem of UAB. Lindemann and Gonzalez-Gordo won two doubles matches in the consolation bracket of A Flight Doubles and will play the consolation bracket final tomorrow against Natalie Schwartz and Jackie Spicijaric of South Florida.
