IRVING, Texas - Sophomore Liza Tymchenko has been named Conference USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning. This is her second conference honor of the season and the third for the Lady Tigers.

A native of Kharkov, Ukraine, Tymchenko posted two come-from-behind victories at No. 3 singles this weekend to help No. 51 Memphis defeat two nationally-ranked opponents. Tymchenko's win over Ivana Kubickova of No. 42 Kansas State on Friday helped Memphis defeat its highest-ranked opponent in program history. Tymchenko's win Sunday against Columbia's No. 109 Kanika Vaidya marked the third-ranked opponent she has beaten this season, which improved her overall record to 18-6 on the year. Tymchenko kept Memphis alive in a must-win match that cut the Lady Tigers' deficit to 3-2.

Tymchenko and the Lady Tigers are back in action Sunday at 10 a.m. when they host No. 16 Virginia at The University Club.
