Live Scoring: Memphis vs. Vanderbilt l Memphis vs. Ole Miss
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - After two Texas road wins, the No. 32 University of Memphis women's tennis team (6-2) continues their road swing this weekend to face off against No. 12 Vanderbilt (5-3) and No. 34 Ole Miss (3-1). Memphis first takes on Vanderbilt in Nashville on Friday at 3 p.m. (CT) at the Currey Tennis Center before a showdown against Ole Miss on Sunday at 12 p.m. (CT) at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center in Oxford.
The Lady Tigers pushed their win streak to four matches last weekend with wins over No. 40 TCU and No. 75 SMU. Sophomore Caroline Wegner clinched the 4-3 win over the Horned Frogs with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 3 over Mimi Fotopoulos. The following day, Memphis competed in its first-ever American Athletic Conference match with a 5-2 win over SMU. Memphis took its fourth-straight doubles point before receiving wins from Stefanie Mikesz, Anki Wind, Marta Morga and Wegner in singles.
Scouting the Commodores
Vanderbilt enters Friday's match with a 5-3 record, winning its last two by a score of 4-3 over top-20 opponents in Baylor and Texas on the road. Marie Casares leads the Commodores with a 6-0 dual match record, primarily at the No. 5 position, and is on a 10-match win streak. Frances Altick also has had a strong start to the spring, going 6-1 with five wins coming at No. 4. Vanderbilt has two ranked players in No. 48 Georgina Sellyn and No. 124 Courtney Colton. The duos of Ashleigh Antal/Sydney Campbell (23) and Lauren Mira/Sellyn (53) also appear in the ITA poll.
Scouting the Rebels
Ole Miss comes in with a 3-1 mark before its Friday doubleheader against Lipscomb. Mai El Kamash leads the Rebels with a 14-8 mark this season. Kamash, No. 119 Caroline Rohde-Moe and Mariya Milutinovic remain undefeated in dual play. In addition to Rohde-Moe, Julia Jones (114) is also ranked in the latest ITA singles poll.
Up Next for Memphis
After four-straight road matches, the Lady Tigers return home to face No. 26 Pepperdine (Feb. 25) at The Racquet Club of Memphis to close out the month of February. Next Tuesday's match will be the first for Memphis at The Racquet Club as the Lady Tigers opened their home slate at Memphis University School while the U.S. National Indoor Championships took place.
