MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The No. 22 University of Memphis women's tennis team (6-3) is back in action Mar. 3-4 with matches against two top-50 opponents in No. 44 Saint Mary's and No. 21 Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.

The Lady Tigers dropped their last match with a 5-2 loss to No. 12 Vanderbilt last Wednesday in Nashville. Freshman Skylar Kuykendall and sophomore Alyssa Hibberd picked up wins for Memphis as Hibberd defeated No. 64 Georgina Sellyn in a come-from-behind three-set victory.

The Lady Tigers will square off against Saint Mary's tomorrow at 1 p.m. CT before facing host Arizona State on Monday at 2:30 p.m.

"Both of these teams are very good, and we will need to be passionate and on our game," said head coach Lee Taylor Walker. "The last four matches have prepared us well for this weekend and I'm proud of the hard work the girls have put in. We are getting better in doubles and I'm hopeful it will show."

Scouting the Opponents

Saint Mary's brings a 5-4 record into Tempe with losses to No.3 UCLA, No. 9 California, No. 36 Washington and No. 40 San Diego State. Saint Mary's picked up its first win over a top-10 team in program history on Feb. 16 as the Gaels defeated No. 7 Stanford, 4-3. The team is led by Jenny Jullien, who is No. 18 in the ITA rankings, while Danielle Flores is No. 121. The Gaels have one doubles team ranked with Catherine Isip and Elizabeth Searl coming in at No. 37.

Arizona State is 8-1 on the season with a 7-0 mark on its home court. The Sun Devils' lone loss came to No. 15 Miami (Fla.) by a score of 4-3. ASU is led by No. 88 Jacqueline Cako and No. 111 Desirae Crawczyk in singles while the duo of Cako and Nicole Smith are ranked No. 40 to lead the Sun Devils.

Movin' On Up
Memphis received its highest ranking in school history for the second-straight week on Feb. 26 when the Lady Tigers came in at No. 22 in the nation after jumping 17 spots in the poll. Memphis has moved up in the rankings every week except on Feb. 12 poll when they did not play the previous week.

Courtney Collins jumped 38 spots to No. 23 in singles after a win over a top-15 opponent. Collins also ranks in doubles with Kelly Gray at No. 59 in the nation.

Upcoming Matches
The Lady Tigers begin an eight-match homestand to close out the month of March. Memphis hosts UCF on Mar. 8 at 2 p.m. before taking on Saint Louis and Murray State on Mar. 10 at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.

Record Watch
Collins is currently fifth in career singles wins at the University of Memphis with an 85-37 record coming into Sunday's match. Collins needs just 13 more victories to break Stacy Seamans' (1979-83) record of 97.
