MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Lady Tiger tennis team will take the courts for their first match of their Spring Break road trip to California when they face-off with No. 75 Cal Poly on Wedneday at 3:30 P.M. (CST). Memphis heads into the match with a record of 8-7 after picking up three home victories last weekend at the University of Memphis Tennis Courts.

The Lady Tigers continue to be led by stellar play from the No. 1 position by Ashley Murdock, a junior from Memphis, Tenn. Last weekend Murdock picked up three wins for the Tigers, defeating opponents from Southeast Missouri State, Murray State and Austin Peay. Murdock currently boasts a 2009 mark of 12-6. The All-C-USA selection a season ago finished her initial season for the Blue and Gray with a record of 15 wins and four losses.

In doubles, the tandem of Murdock and Marjorie Ondeck reunited last weekend after not playing with eachother since the Samford Preseason Invitational in January. The duo has put up a mark of 4-3 so far this season.

Cal Poly enters Wednesday's match with a record of 6-4. Coach Hugh Bream's squad is led by Brittany Blalock at the No. 1 position. Blalock has produced an 11-2 record during the 2009 spring dual season. The junior from Palm Desert, Calif., has picked up two wins over ranked opponents this season, including a win over the nation's eighth-ranked singles player Maria Sanchez of USC.

In doubles, the No.1 tandem of Blalock and Steffi Wong has put up a 7-6 mark so far this season.

The Lady Tigers will continue their road trip in the Golden State with matches against Cal State Northridge on Fri., March 13 and Loyola Marymount on Sat., March 14.
