Women's Tennis Downs Arkansas-Little Rock
March 25, 2000 Memphis, Tenn.-- - The Lady Tiger tennis team improved to 6-7 on the season with a 5-2 win over Arkansas-Little Rock at the HPER courts, Saturday. It was the U of M's second consecutive home win in as many days after shutting out Western Kentucky, 9-0, Friday. Memphis won four of the six singles matches, sweeping all three top slots in two sets. Junior Christina Ladyman (Perth, Western Australia) improved her overall record to 8-5 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over UALR's Kelly Bucewicz. Freshman Sabrina Lindemann (Linz, Austria) also posted her eighth win of the season with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Layla Tohme. Junior Betsy Card (Terre Haute, Ind.) completed the top three sweep with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Alejandra Reyes. Freshman Sumitra Rao (Madras, India) earned her 10th victory of the season with a default win at No. 6. Rao leads the team with a 10-3 overall record, including a mark of 7-2 at the No. 6 spot. Memphis plays its final regular season road match at Arkansas State, Tuesday at 3 p.m., before hosting three Conference USA schools at the HPER courts Mar. 31-Apr. 1 in a conference tournament tune-up.
