MEMPHIS, Tenn.--Memphis women's tennis is set to host its final home matches of the 2011 season this weekend at The Racquet Club of Memphis. The Lady Tigers (12-8, 1-1 C-USA) will play back-to-back on Friday, April 8 beginning at 9:30 a.m. CT against conference enemy UTEP, followed by Southern University at 2:30 p.m.

The conference dual between the Lady Tigers and Miners will be a hard-fought battle as conference wins are critical with the C-USA Championships a mere two weeks away. Additionally, a win would keep Memphis' perfect home record intact as the Blue and Gray are 6-0 in the Bluff City this spring with an overall win-streak now standing at 14.

UTEP (5-11, 1-1 CU-USA) edged out New Mexico State 4-3 in its last outing on March 30th. The Miners have found more success the latter part of the 2011 season, winning five of their last nine duals after opening the season 0-7.

In the second match, Memphis will be up against the Southwestern Athletic Conference West Division champion Southern Jaguars, which are currently 9-5 overall. The last time these two programs met on the court was in February of 2008, with Memphis coming out on top in a 4-1 decision in Baton Rouge.

The Lady Tigers come into thte double-header on Friday having dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker to UCF in Orlando their last time out. Junior Mariya Slupska, a native of Kiev, Ukraine, continues to lead the team in wins with her 14-5 mark at No. 2 singles, ranking her fourth in C-USA in winning percentage at the No. 2 slot.

As always, admission to Tiger Tennis events at The Racquet Club is free.
