Women's Tennis to Host the Demons on Friday
April 12, 2007 MEMPHIS, Tenn. - - The University of Memphis women's tennis team will tempt the fates by hosting Northwestern State on Friday, April 13th, at Briarcrest. The Demons of Northwestern State are 9-9 on the 9-10 on the season and are 5-6 in the Southland Conference. Northwestern State, located in Natchitoches, Louisiana, have struggled as of late, winning just one of their last six matches. But outside of league play, the Demons are 5-4, coming off a 4-3 loss on Wednesday to a UALR team that downed the Lady Tigers 7-0 on Saturday. Sophomore Bogusia Patzer leads Northwestern State at No. 1 singles with an 8-5 mark. Fellow sophomore Marie Scriba has also played six matches at No. 1, sporting a 4-2 record. Senior Catalina Villegas has played the most matches at No. 2, with a 6-5 mark, while also carrying a 4-4 mark at No. 3 when Patzer has moved down to play No. 2 singles, where she is 2-4. At No. 4, sophomore Marine Neveu is 6-9, while sophomore Daniela Posada is 10-2 at No. 5 singles. In doubles, Patzer and Marie Van den Bergh are 5-5 atop the doubles line-up, while Patzer is 4-2 when teamed with Marie Scriba at No. 1. The duo of Posada and Villegas are 10-6 at No. 2 doubles. The match will begin at 2 p.m. and will be played at Briarcrest School in Memphis.
